You know what’s cool? Babies.
I love babies. They’re cute, funny, happy, and lovable. It seems as if EVERYTHING they do is cute right? Even when they do things they probably shouldn’t.
For example, my baby niece is one and we were at the beach and she would get sand and eat it. We all thought it was hilarious and super cute, but of course we would tell her to stop… And she wouldn’t exactly listen. But that’s to be expected, she doesn’t know any better, she probably thought “it looks like food, it’s in my reach, I like food. *puts in mouth*” (thoughts of a baby) :p
Well, if the same thing happened with my five year old niece.. We wouldn’t be saying “oh how cute.” Cause she knows a little better, and we may let it slide and tell her don’t do it again, but we expect her to actually listen and not do it again.
Why am I sharing this story? Well, The Lord has shown me how much like kids we are, and as we grow older, we should be expected to know better and not do things that a “baby” in the faith would do.
I think when we first come to Christ and we mess up a lot, God knows we don’t know any better. As we grow in Christ, the Holy Spirit begins to reveal more things we need to chisel out of our lives, even if it hurts. And the older we get, the more we see how much we need to change, and the process continues till our last breath.
God wants us to grow in Him.
Hebrews 5:12 says:
You have been believers so long now that you ought to be teaching others. Instead, you need someone to teach you again the basic things about God’s word. You are like babies who need milk and cannot eat solid food.
We can’t always expect to be babies in the faith. When we mess up, as we get older in Christ, does God still forgive and love us TO NO END? Yes! Absolutely. But does He want us to work on ourselves, and grow, and not abuse His grace? OF COURSE.
Well then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of his wonderful grace? Of course not! Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it? Romans 6:1-2
I encourage you to grow in Christ. I encourage you to spend time with your Heavenly Daddy. He yearns to spend time with His beloved kids, and teach you things, and help you grow!
His grace and peace be with you,
